Poetic Excellence
Poetry contests can greatly benefit poets by offering a range of opportunities for recognition, growth, and career advancement, such as boosting credibility, exposure, and skill development.
Boosting Credibility: Winning or placing in a poetry contest adds credibility to a poet's work. Credibility boosts a poet's portfolio, helping them secure other opportunities like publishing deals.
Exposure: I know people consider exposure insignificant, but it isn't! Many contests feature winners in anthologies, websites, or social media, providing poets with a wider visibility they didn't have before. This visibility leads to paid opportunities.
Skill Development: The themes and prompts of contests push poets to explore new topics and refine their craft. Our deadlines also foster productivity to encourge poets to complete and polish work by specific deadlines.
